Wendy Alton is a trial lawyer and certified mediator for divorce and custody.  She has practiced in Michigan courts for over 13 years, and presently focuses solely in family law.  She assists her clients with divorce, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, property settlement, and prenuptial agreements.

In 2009, Wendy became certified as a Divorce and Custody Mediator after rigorous training at the Mediation Training & Consultation Institute.  She completed her Domestic Violence Screening Protocol Training in 2009, and also completed her Collaborative Practice Advanced Mediation Training in 2012.

Wendy has been named to the Michigan Super Lawyers "Rising Stars" list as one of the top up-and-coming attorneys in Michigan for both 2012 and 2013. The attorneys named as "Rising Stars" are attorneys who have demonstrated a high degree of professional achievement and peer recognition. Each year, no more than 2.5% of the lawyers in Michigan receive the prestigious designation of "Rising Star."

In 2013 Wendy was elected as the Vice President of the Livonia Bar Association, and then served as President in 2014-2015.  Established in 1962, the Livonia Bar Association is a nonprofit organization of attorneys whose mission is to provide legal services, promote legal education, develop professional relationships and promote justice, as well as participate in public outreach, community and pro-bono activities. 

Wendy educates the public and her clients about issues in family law through the firm’s blog.  She has been published as a guest columnist in the Northville Record and the Northville Patch.  She has also been interviewed about family law issues by the ABC News and the Detroit News. 

Wendy earned a BA in English at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with dual minors in History and Physics.  She has remained active in alumni service to the University as a member of the Board of Governors for the College of Arts, Sciences & Letters Alumni Affiliate.  Wendy earned her law degree at Wayne State University Law School in 2002, where she was the recipient of the Raymond L. Krell Scholarship and the Law Scholarship for the State Bar Negligence Council. 

Wendy is licensed to practice in Michigan courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.  She is a former Assistant City Attorney for the City of Westland, and handled misdemeanor criminal prosecution, including numerous bench and jury trials.
